Industrial steel buildings provide an efficient way for saving both money and time, compared to traditional structures. As most of the “construction” is done off-site, by assembly lines in the controlled environment of the factory, pre-engineered metal buildings can be erected easily and quickly, with less on-site labor requirement. The ever-growing design possibilities have led to a sudden growth in the popularity of such modular structures. A few years ago, steel storage buildings and barns were all that one would think of constructing in this fashion. Advanced Uses of Prefabricated Metal Buildings
Apart from the usual industrial and commercial uses, these prefab steel buildings are often used to provide bulk housing in emergency, such as for setting up temporary shelter homes for the victims of an earthquake or hurricane. They often replace the traditional restrooms, shower cubicles and mess halls too in hostels for students in college campuses. And one of the most advanced examples of industrial metal buildings is perhaps the rotating skyscrapers project in Moscow and Dubai, in which each individual module is completed, with wiring and plumbing, at the factory in Italy, and then shipped to the actual site, and assembled there.

As seen from the image the structure rotates across a vertical axis and still remains stable. The grid locks in this building rest on a ball and socket joint, this provides it with a rotational movement without adding any stress or strain to the metal. The Each of the block is a separate entity that can be visualized as a standalone block glued to a common pole. These kind of structures provide excellent protection from earthquakes as the spaces between the blocks serve as damping agents. This building is a prime example of a prefabricated steel building.
On the other hand prefab construction units provide a more cost-effective and quicker alternative for construction, but they are also more eco-friendly in some ways. The use of recycled materials, solar panels and other energy-efficient fixtures in manufacturing the prefab components, like metal warehouse kits and prefab home kits, is impacting our environment in a healthier and friendlier way.
